Hello All,

At the most recent Xbox Press Release, the team announced that they were incrementally going to release the entire Halo series from Reach until Halo 4 on Steam, in chronological order. With that in mind, how does everyone feel that this will affect Cartographer? I for one will continue to use Cartographer, but am curious as to what y'all think about the matter. I think that this platform has much more creativity, more flexibility, and is much more interesting and fun to play. Thanks for reading my post, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

The MCC on Steam should have a much larger playerbase. Cartographer is pretty unknown.
To add on top of that, I've heard somewhere that 343 is planning to add in mod support for it, so if they do that... properly anyways, it could be pretty huge.

Personally I´m gonna continue with Project Cartographer, mainly because of the custom maps and stuff. It will be left to be seen how MCC on pc affects the player count on this project tho.

I've already replied to this thread but I feel like since Halo 1 and 2 are already on PC and can be played for free people will use those instead of MCC unless they plan on playing with anniversary graphics or COOP campaign. So chances are the population will grow. But like Anz said it's still yet to be seen whether or not things will turn out that way. As for custom maps on MCC I really doubt mod support other than forge made maps.

Another doubt I have is any HUD customization. For Halo 2 anyways... FOV is definitely going to be customizable but I'm not so sure about crosshair offset or crosshair size. Maybe an option for either centred or classic and nothing in between. Cartographer is doing great so far and it's still only in an alpha state.

343 Industries' Community Director Brian Jarrard confirmed on a Reddit ask-me-anything (AMA) that Halo: The Master Chief Collection (MCC) on PC won't have mod support at launch, but that it may come after the full release.
Here's his full statement:
We are working closely with the members of the modding community (including some friends on the ElDewrito team) to explore our options for "official" mod support, but we won't have this at launch. Our #1 priority for launch is ensuring we get each of these core games "right" for PC and security/anti-cheat is a big focus. As we've stated, this entire offering will grow and evolve over time.

Definitely not "confirmed" but they're absolutely thinking about it. The only reason people would still stick with the poor Halo 1 port and this after its release and modding tools is because they don't want to pay for things. And they'd probably just pirate it at that point anyways.

I think it may actually boost the fanbase, if the social media and SEO are done right. Some people may actually prefer Cartographer, as it is free, and the halo bug may catch on...
FLOOD reddits, forums, etc. I am actually ecited to try to make this happen, if people would join for some games and streams, etc.
