So I have followed the tutorial on how to run a dedicated server. I have gotten to the point where it shows the image below:

But no one can see my games including myself when I open Halo 2 and select Network.

The tutorial just assumes it will work after that but something else must need done. Any ideas?

You have set up a dedicated server for the LIVE aspect of halo 2.

the LIVE aspect of Halo 2 does not work anymore because Microsoft stop supporting the server broadcasting which relayed information between machines for the LIVE servers to be shown to clients.

That is why Project Cartographer came around to bring that functionality back but we use the LAN aspect of Halo 2. So in order to set up a dedicated server for us you need to set up a LAN dedicated server. As well as using our mod files. However because they are still in the early testing stages they aren't public.

However in the future hosting dedicated servers will be much more easier and more open to everyone. :) Just have patience.

Is there any update on this?

Why are you necro posting?
I have no idea what that means. I'm new to this community and just wanted an update on the situation. I'm looking to help host servers myself since this game brings me lots of joy! Just wanted to see the progress of the community since this post was started in 2016 and there hasn't been an announcement made yet as an update to my knowledge.

I agree Goblin_aK, it is extremely hard to find any info on dedicated servers so I don't see why there would be an issue with asking whether or not there are any updates in this thread. If you make your own thread you receive no answers. You asked in here and still did not receive an answer. I think admins take offense to people wanting to start their own servers but we are just people that love this game and want to see it grow. I don't think it can grow without servers that have more game variants and maps. There needs to be servers with old school H2 respawn times and H2 XBL matchmaking playlists with map default weapons. I think this would really spice the game up, you can only play so much rockets and snipers, people miss the old school matchmaking playlists IMO.

TL:DR Super appreciative of all work done on Project Cartographer and for anyone running a server. Would just love to see servers with 7-10 second spawn times in objective games so the game is competitively balanced and kills matter. That and more skirmish based servers with map default starting weapons and this game could have me hooked like back in the day!
