Installation stuck..

I'm trying to reinstall halo 2 on my PC cuz of previous issues regarding lan...and now I can't seem to install it back...it just gets stuck and for about 30min or more and it'd give me this error



...installation worked perfectly for my laptop though and I just installed it moments after installing it *or at least trying* to the desktop

dxsetup.exe looks like the installer for DirectX, and a quick google search confirmed that. So i suggest: manually going into the installation files and installing that program alone, or uninstalling it and reinstalling it, or uninstall it and retry installing Halo 2.
Also it looks like its giving the directory on the disk for that install file so just look there.
Otherwise if that doesn't work, try installing an updated version of DirectX from the internet (might be the best idea as it is probably compatible with Windows 8). Just some ideas for you to try... Good luck!

unfortunately...nothing seems to work... :/ I tried installing dxsetup.exe manually but it also gets stuck on initializing...tried the web installer online and it says I've got the latest one...soo yaaa :/
