It has come to our attention that a trainer to enable super bouncing for H2V has been made public. We acknowledge that super bouncing is a huge part of what makes Halo 2 so much fun and so great. However, when it comes to Halo 2 PC and this project specifically, there is a bit more to be taken into account.
We want super bouncing to be made available for any and everyone to use, but we want this to be done in a way that will be a bit more controlled.
What do I mean by this? Well, obviously this is not something that is in H2V by default. We want this game to be enjoyable no matter how you wish to play it. Some people like Halo 2 Vista the way it is by default, then there are some that want it more like original Halo 2. So, the plan would be to implement super bouncing in a "OG mode" if you will. A mod that would be similar to the "H2X" mod that is making H2V play more like original Halo 2 but keeping it's 60 FPS attribute.
The way super bouncing is currently done makes the game run at 30 tick which is essentially the same as 30 FPS. So for example, the "OG" mode that we would make would make the game practically be the same as original H2. Changing the tick rate makes many parts of H2V function just like original Halo 2. An example of this would be, obviously, super bouncing, but also things like button combo timing, hit registration, melees and more.
However, simply changing the tick rate to 30 is not enough as there is a lot more things on the back end that would need to be set back to 30 as well to make the game be fully functional and play like original H2.
This mode could be enabled for custom games and possibly "OG" servers, where when you load in, it would apply that mod and everyone will be playing on it similar to how H2X currently does.
As we already have a hacker situation on our hands until we get a proper anti-cheat ready, it is hard to tell who is super bouncing and who might be fly hacking. So, we will be banning anyone caught doing super bounces in regular public games.
You are more than welcome to do any super bouncing or other hacks / mods in servers or custom games with "Glitches", "Hacks", or "Mods" in the gametype name.
We hope you guys understand where we are coming from. We get that super bouncing is a ton of fun, but again, we want this to be released for people to play on in a legit way that won't be abused.
Thank you.
Note: Normal H2V super bounces are not included in this ban. Those are fine.
