Project Cartographer problems

Hi, I'm considerably new to Project Cartographer, the program keeps asking for verification of my Halo 2 install (I have a physical copy and everything) so I direct it to Halo 2's directory and nothing changes. So I boot up Halo 2 itself, but can't connect to the master. It gives me the message "This is taking awhile... make sure Halo 2 is allowed through firewall." which is utterly confusing, as I've allowed both Halo 2 and the project cartographer .exe through Windows Firewall completely, AND have forwarded the necessary ports.
Also, I'm running both programs as an administrator.
and every time I try to force an update via the .exe launcher, it tries to download it, but when it looks like it finishes, the whole program freezes.

With the introduction of accounts you need to run the game through the launcher to connect to the master server. Doing so will generate a login token verifying you have a valid account. This is used to uniquely identify who you are as a player. Essentially a gamer tag.
